Hello everybody, I'm a history-student from Holland and I'm planning a project to do research in Caracas- Venezuela. I want to go in june/july and I'm planning to stay approximateley 4 to 5 months. The problem of mountain sickness does not have many solutions: go down to lower quotas. A strange feeling in the first days is normal, but then, if these persist it is necessary to leave the place. The better prevention is to check it before in a quota up to 2/3000 m. in order to verify the reaction. In any case, you can have a medical consultations on the place. In Lasha there are medical centers for such consultations and oxygen cylinders for people suffering the hypoxia.

We will travel to Western Canada until Alaska. How are the roads in Yukon and Alaska, any problem for camper? Please give us tips and some idea about place of interset (no tourist places).

If you want to travel from Vancouver and the British Columbia until Yukon, it is a very long way. Roads are very good. Much better to start in Anchorage, visit Alaska and then take the Highway until Whitehorse in Yukon and than travel to Skagway (Alaska), where you can take a ferry to Vancouver. This trip is wonderful, from the ship you can see salmons, red deers and whales.

I am planning a bike tour in Holland and I would like some useful tips and addresses.

All the Dutch roads are very good for bike tours, no danger and goog indications. For the accomodations in every city there is a Tourist Office (black triangular sign with 3 V black and white) . Bed&breakfast or camping are good and not expensives. Look for accomodationion in the first hours of the afternoon! NB: if you are tired take trains (also rooms for bike).

I will visit Honduras and I am interested in the music. You may have some suggestion.

In Honduras you can experience Latin american music. On the Caribbean Coast do not mist a visit to the Garifuna. They are still playing traditional music of african origin using instruments like shells and turtles (departure point Tela).
